MRP Lean Manufacturing

Moulders Consulting: Offering Top-Quality MRP Lean Manufacturing Software

At Moulders Consulting, we pride ourselves on creating customised MRP lean manufacturing software systems and industry-leading ERP solutions that meet the unique needs of the manufacturing sector.

Our ERP/MRP systems are crafted by experts who understand the ins and outs of manufacturing. With over 40 years of combined experience, our team includes professionals from various manufacturing roles – such as sales, marketing, operations, management, and more.

Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems are vital for managing the materials required in the manufacturing process. Essentially, MRP ensures you have the right materials available at the right time to meet production demands.

Here is an overview of the six key steps involved in MRP:

Production Schedule Development: The MRP system starts by creating a production schedule based on customer demand and current inventory levels.

It calculates how many products need to be produced over a specific period and uses this information to develop a production plan.

Material Requirements Calculation: Next, the system calculates the material requirements. This involves determining the volume of products to be manufactured and the type and quantity of materials needed, including allowances for waste.

Inventory Check: The MRP system then checks whether your current inventory is adequate to meet the material needs outlined in the production plan.

Purchase Orders Generation: If inventory is insufficient, the system generates purchase orders for the necessary materials. These orders include details like quantity, delivery dates, and other pertinent information.

Progress Tracking: Once purchase orders are created, the MRP system tracks their progress. It monitors delivery dates, delays, or any issues that might arise.

Plan Adjustment: If there are any changes to the production plan, the MRP system adjusts the production schedule accordingly to reflect these changes.

What Is An MRP System?

An MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system manages and plans material needs in manufacturing by using key data inputs: the Bill of Materials (BOM), inventory status, and the Master Production Schedule (MPS).

It calculates material requirements, generates purchase and work orders, and continuously updates to adapt to changes in demand or production. The system optimises inventory levels, ensuring materials are available when needed, minimising excess inventory and stockouts, and enhancing production efficiency.
