About Material Requirements Planning
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is crucial for managing the materials needed in manufacturing. In essence, MRP helps to ensure that the right resources are available to create products.
The MRP process consists of six key steps:
Developing A Production Schedule: We start by creating a production schedule based on customer demand and current inventory levels. Our MRP system calculates how many products need to be made over a specific period, establishing a clear production plan.
Determining Material Requirements: Next, the system figures out what materials are needed for production. It assesses the volume of products to be manufactured and identifies the types and quantities of materials required, including a margin for waste.
Inventory Check: The system then checks the inventory to ensure that there are enough materials on hand to meet production needs.
Generating Purchase Orders: If the inventory falls short of what’s necessary, the MRP system automatically generates purchase orders for the required materials, detailing the quantities, delivery dates, and other important information.
Tracking Progress: The MRP system tracks the status of any purchase orders, monitoring delivery timelines, potential delays, and other issues as they arise.
Adjusting The Plan: Should there be any changes in the production schedule, the MRP system can easily adapt the plan accordingly to keep everything on track.
