About Material Requirements Planning
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems play a crucial role in managing the materials needed for manufacturing. MRP is vital in ensuring that resources are secured for producing goods, and it involves six key steps:
Production Schedule Development: We start by creating a production schedule based on customer demand and current inventory levels. The MRP system calculates how many products need to be produced over a specific time frame, forming the backbone of the production plan.
Material Requirements: Once the production schedule is in place, the system calculates the materials needed for manufacturing. It assesses the number of products to be produced and identifies the types and quantities of materials required, while factoring in some waste.
Check Inventory: The system verifies whether the current inventory can meet the material requirements.
Generate Purchase Orders: If additional materials are needed, the MRP generates purchase orders detailing the quantities and delivery dates.
Track Progress: The MRP system also keeps track of any purchase orders, monitoring delivery dates and updating for any delays or issues.
Adjust The Plan: Lastly, if there are any changes in the production plan, the MRP system adapts the schedule as needed.
By implementing our MRP/ERP solutions, manufacturing businesses can optimise their operations and position themselves for greater success.
