Driving Sustainability Forward: MCL at the SPRA & BPF Parliamentary Reception

Andy had the honour of representing MCL at the SPRA and The BPF Parliamentary Reception: Plastics and Rubber in the Circular Economy, hosted by Kenneth Gibson MSP.

It was a standout event that brought together some of the most influential voices in the plastics and rubber industries — all united by a shared mission: accelerating meaningful progress towards circularity and sustainable manufacturing.

A Powerful Platform for Collaboration

The reception served as a fantastic opportunity to engage with industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators who are shaping the future of materials and manufacturing in the UK. Conversations centred around how we can collectively reduce environmental impact, strengthen recycling infrastructure, and champion responsible production.

The level of insight, passion, and forward-thinking on display made it clear that our industry is not only evolving but doing so with purpose.

Championing the Circular Economy

With sustainability at the forefront of global manufacturing, events like this are essential. They allow businesses, organisations, and government representatives to align on the steps needed to:

  • Improve circularity within plastics and rubber
  • Expand recycling capabilities
  • Innovate with sustainable materials
  • Strengthen collaboration across the supply chain

For MCL, being part of these vital conversations reinforces our commitment to driving positive change and supporting a more sustainable future for the sector.

A Thank You to Our Hosts

A huge thank you to SPRA, BPF, and Kenneth Gibson MSP for organising such an engaging and impactful gathering. It’s inspiring to see leaders across the industry come together with a shared determination to make real, constructive progress.
